It happens. Many domains are heavily marketed and a few eventually go through hard times or neglected. The dot com bust resulted in many of these gems. RARE...but not IMPOSSIBLE. Just watch out for trademarked ones... or you'll be buying yourself a lawsuit along with your new domain.
