Anyone know car audio well? (question)

ey everyone, First let me introduce myself. My name is Dave, and I'm a novice with car audio, though I have a genuine interest to learn. A couple days ago, while driving on a highway (no bumps) my subwoofer just stopped working. I've been trying to figure out why, but I've come up with nothing.
It happened once before when I parked at a friend's house, but when I came back and sort of jiggled the cables it worked. Like I said, I'm a novice, so I have no idea what to look for. All the inputs I have seen I have made sure are plugged in tightly. I'm assuming it's not getting power but I have no idea what to look for. Like I said, every plug I have seen I have made sure is plugged in.
I currently have a nice Alpine deck ($400), Alpine speakers ($800), Alpine amp (not sure what the specs are but it was $150-$200 I believe) and the subs are 12" Sony Xplods powered by an Xplod amp. The sub and amp were on sale, so dummy me I went for it. My speakers, deck and amp are working fine, but the subs are not. I've had it for around 2-3 months so I doubt they just died. I did have it "professionally" installed at BestBuy and it worked like a charm up until 2 days ago.
I would really, really appreciate any advice on what to look for specifically or anything. I don't believe I still have my reciept around, so I would have to pay Best Buy quite a bit to even look at it. Thanks a lot. - Dave
