Sometimes being true to yourself has immense costs. Of course, NOT being true to yourself would be infinitely more costly.

absolutely. the truth hurts, but it must be told and realized. not being yourself by following your heart essentially has you living the wishes of others. the costs of being true to yourself are far less than the damage that you do being something that someone else wants you to be because it makes them a more comfortable human being. bearing the burden of being different carries a reward that you cannot earn or buy. i thank the universe everyday for making me what i am, no matter how wrong i may seem to others.
