:mad This is ridiculous. Almost got into an accident

It seems like every day I leave my house, I almost get hit by some idiot.
On this occasion, I'm driving torwards a red light in the right lane. Two lanes, one for turning, one for going straight. I was going straight. So I'm heading to the red light about 200ft away, going maybe 15-20mph (in a 45) since there is no one in the straight lane.

Next thing I know I see this horizontal car in my lane. This old woman apparantly had to turn into this side street so she cut in front of the cars in the turning lane (who also had a red light) she didn't bother to look in my lane, and popped out right in front of me. By the time I saw her I was about 10ft away, slam on my breaks and luckily I could stop - literally inches from hitting her front quarter panel - and what does she do? Not a damn thing. SHE DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE ME.

Meanwhile my poor dog is hurt and shaken because he slammed hard into the dash and windshield, luckily he is ok. I look to the stopped car beside me and we both exchange what-the-fuck looks and I go on.

We all have close calls while driving, but this is just ridiculous. I have been in this new area since June, and this sort of stop has happened plenty of times. I'm in an small area that is full of retirement homes, golf courses, you know. So there are these old women that are clearly not capable of driving anymore. In fact I live right on a golf course, next to a big retirement community.

I can't even remember how many times I almost got hit by idiots not stopping at stop signs, red lights, plowing out onto a busy road without looking etc It's ridiculous. The worst part is I bring my dog with me a lot of the time, and if something happened to him because of these peoples' stupidity, I would be devastated.
