First: I served in th early 80's and was medicaly discharged after screwing up my knee.
Now My Rant:
When I was in, the majority of people I went through basic with were "trash". Too many off them couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time. I was in MI (I know, oxymoron) and was always suprised by the people I encountered. As a white guy, I was in the minority amoung enlisted men. Most of the blacks I encountered were the worst racistists and least educated people. There is no incentive for someone that has a chance at a career in the private sector to serve in the military.
Don't get me wrong I am proud to have servered. I enjoyed what I did. I just hated all the Bullshit
