I neither like nor dislike the guy, I agree that "Stan" was a pretty poigniant song, although it could have just been another lyrical marketing scheme... You know, "piss everybody off then write something sensitive"
I do respect the fact that he's a private person, but to say things like "I don't owe my fans anything" is a huge pile of horse shit, despite all the hype and the Demographically Specific Target Marketing, it's the fans that buy the records and ultimately they're his "Employers" if you will. Kids don't buy your CD, you don't make your next mortgage payment. It wasn't Mathers that got himself where he is, it was his label and Dr. Dre who saw in him a new character to push on the masses. I'm not saying the guy has talent, but if he had gone the DIY route, he probably would be rapping for food on some corner in Hollywood.
I missed the MTV awards last night, what the Hell happened?
