If you'll take a close look at the bottom of your laptop, you'll see a circular "VENT" hole. This is where the CPU fan blows the hot CPU air out of the machine.

Now, you probably have your laptop resting on your leg or some other air-tight application which does not allow the hot air to excape from your laptop.

Next year, when you get to grade school, this will all make perfedt sense to you.
