i aint a sciencetist , but from my understanding of the gene code , while some of the strings in the genome do mutate from host to host , the base architecture of the strain remains the same , i mean if it mutated so much that it was no longer the same how could one determine if it is the AIDS virus they are dealing with or something totally different
there has to be some base code that links all the strains together which is most likely what they are targeting , the building block/foundation of the virus
from what i remember from an article i read awhile ago , they haven't really found a vaccine to stop infection , but they have found a vaccine to slow the progression of the virus
