You got a point there! The EU may not be a total screwup yet - but that's only a matter of time before it ends up "almost" like the US. When nations/states get together and have a central govt, the lot crumbles, taxes increase, the national debt increases, living standards fall and nobody has a clue where the money went.
Highly industrialized western countries are top in line for collapse (at least in economic terms).

- Canada is stuck in the middle of the ladder and got more chance than many other nations. But.... the best nations, at least for lifestyle, even now, are what can be described as "third world countries". They don't have the baggage of industrialized western countries.
Many of your countrymen are already taking advantage of living in these "third world countries" and doing nicely.
