They would never come close to killing anywhere near 3000 people in one go here. And why bother? The USA has bigger, better targets and a terrorist attack in Australia wouldn't affect world financial markets like it would in the USA... and that seems to be one of their primary aims.
oh don't get me wrong.. america will always be the primary target but don't forget we have the worlds largest muslim country as our close neighbour.. the indonesians are more pissed at us than the americans.. what with timor and all. there was that grenade attack on the school and the australian embassy thing..

trust me, im the first to believe that howard and costello are making a big deal over how much of a target we are to distract us (they flew two jets over sydney the day before the election for no reason at all other than to bring it to home to us) and I detest them and the transparency of their motives. But we are nonetheless the US's most staunch supporter.. we have forfeited our little backwater island no-one's heard of status especially when Iraq is putting trade sanctions on us for our support.

leaving aside the assertions that melbourne tower was an admitted terrorist target because of it's height and other things because of the lack of real facts I still truly believe that we are high on the list.. if for no other reason than i think we're an easier target than america... and yes a chemical or otherwise attack in sydney would kill more than 3000 people.
We do have al qaeda members in the country even if it's not a serious cell..

america is their best use of "resources" and will be continue to be their main target.. england is probably 2nd on the list.. they can access many countries in europe fairly easily so it's a bit hard to say where abouts we are on the list.. but with indonesia and malaysia so close that i get the feeling that we'd be in their sphere of western targets i don't know.. nothing to be blaise about at any rate.. i'll tell you now that I considered moving out of the city a plus after s11.. not that i moved because of it but it was an additional reason to go "yep im glad im getting out of here".
