I've noticed a couple companies doing that for the holidays.

I Tivo anything I intend to watch on tv so I don't have to deal with commercials, but even fast forwarding I noticed the old school folgers commercial where the son comes home from the military and wakes his family up on Xmas morning with the smell of coffee.

I haven't seen the commercial in a decade and I still recognized that guy walking in the door even in fast forward.
