Anyone see anything wrong with MTV's decision to (for the most part) not include true rock bands at the awards? There is a massive and very dedicated following for those bands too. Heck, Ozzfest is the biggest and most profitable touring concert of the year.

System of a Down should have played live, as should have Korn.

But no, MTV has to go with a more "tame" rock band in Linkin Park. They've turned into a pussy rock band since they went mainstream though, and there's no way they deserved best rock video over SOAD's Chop Suey.

In the end I guess it boils down to the show being fixed. It's used as a promotional tool to make some bands seem more popular than they really are. This way MTV then elevates fresh faces for the coming year. That explains why new people (or people they can still make $ off of throughout the next year) always won over people who had big hits earlier in the year but have kinda faded away since. Why give Shakira awards for an old song like Wherever Whenever when Pink is new and fresh for the next year? That's the way it works.

The whole show is a scam.
