you mean to tell me that the day you turn 18, you'd suddenly refuse to even touch a 17 & 1/2 year old hottie that has been hitting on you for the past two months?

you can't suddenly say "6575 days is fine to be fuckin', but 6574 days isn't". what the fuck is a day, a week, or even a month? people mature over years, not petty little timescales. which is why you can't say it is immoral to fuck a 17 year old -- who by all means, may be 2 days away from their 18th birthday -- whilst it is perfectly moral to engage in sex with someone that turned 18 last monday. no, it may not be completely legal. yes, you may be arrested for it. but it doesn't mean that it is completely undeniabley (sp) morally incorrect because you didn't wait for another 48 hours.

it doesn't work like that. but the law does not ever deal with such grey areas... and they DO need to address the age of consent, which is why they need to put a definate number down on paper. doesn't mean it is morally incorrect that some people bend that number by a few hours, days, or whatever. BUT, as long as people aren't going out raping 10 year olds, i think we can all sleep easy. there are ways to do things, and ways not to do things. that shit would be just plain wrong.

on PAPER it is illegal to steal. but morally, there is nothing wrong with a man stealing a loaf of bread to feed his starving family. you see where i'm going with this?... in terms of what is right and what is wrong, the law provides guidelines but isn't always correct. generally, they need to be clear and concise without using IFs and BUTs. which is why they say 18/16, whatever, and not a second younger.

when someone is determined to do something, the law doesn't usually get in the way. drug dealers, bank robbers, etc. the law will not stop them from comitting the crime if they really want to. it will punish them if caught.

scientists have found, through several decades of research, that females mature at a greater rate than males. meaning that at 17 years of age, any average female may have roughly the same level of maturity as an average GUY of 20 years old. they say "average", because of course it excludes cases such as the mentally handicapped or mentally ill. their milage will differ.

"i'm 18 and 2 days old, but i refuse to fuck a chick that is 17 and 363 days old". yes... those few days DO indeed make a huge difference.
