I would never have thought Sleazy would be a two star hotel type of person. You are right, the DR is one place I have never been (and I would go if given the chance) but as a travel agent I did deal with hundreds of people that went and at the time it was the focus of many industry wide issues in this country because of people getting ill.

Now, anyone drinking any 'new' water are going to get sick a bit but their was a high level of bacteria in the water that various people tested, etc.

Like I said NO BIG DEAL if you are just a wise tourist. Unlike me who got deathly ill in Mexico once despite not knowingly drinking local water..some got in me somehow anyway.

If there have been massive improvements then good for them.
