If it were just stats that made the player(and stats reflect a lot) A.I. should have been MVP last year and he's having a similar season as far as stats. But Kobe is a "winner". I've seen that guy hit clutch shots so many times to win big games and that's one of the reasons why he's one of the best. His D is better than A.I. and lebron also. He made 1st team D team thrice. and 2nd team many times. He's only had one whole year without Shaq, so the argument about him needing Shaq for the playoffs or to win a championship doesn't jive. Also, it wasn't just Shaq he lost, he lost P.J.(he's not back and making a difference vs last year) he lost Rick Fox and Derek Fisher. All these guys were integral to 3 championships. Robert Horry was a big part of those too. Kobe and P.J. were the most important of all IMO. Shaq was a big part of the championships, but that guy is the most overpaid and overrated cry baby in the league. He wasn't satisfied with being the highest paid player in the league, he had to be the highest paid player in the league by leaps and bounds. No way is he worth 28 million a year (twice as much as Kobe). He isn't even the best player on the Heat, Dwanye Wade is, though everybody kisses his ass and he automatically gets up there in M.V.P. voting last year somehow. He's injured half the time too.

It like saying Magic was not a great player because he never won any ring without Kareem. Magic was still Da PLAYER in his time and so is Kobe. BTW how many rings did Shaq get without Kobe? Shaq has so many good players in his team right now, and you know what? he is not going to win this years. So how good is Shaq without Kobe?
