1) Damon never went back to the Sox to ask them to match the offer, I think he either a) wanted to stir up controversy, or b) actually wanted to be a Yankee.

2) His arm is about on par with Williams, but he's significantly faster, which will make the outfield SIGNIFICANTLY stronger (making up for Sheffield and Matsui's relative slowness). Also more speed on the basepaths is always good.
