I got hooked, you might say, around 8 or 9 -- every year we'd go to my uncle Ed's for New Year's. The party was in the basement, which was all hooked up for partying Dominican style, which is what my mom's side is. But, I'd get bored and want to go think my little dark, broody thoughts -- so I'd go upstairs to the living room, which was very nicely furnished, but all in darkness -- save for the glow that came from this old metaframe ten gallon with a yellow bulb over a dense growth of live plants. it was mesmerizing. the ours i spent alone staring into the mysterious depths of that tank are among the most formative and, i would say happiest, of my life. the return of fish to my life, at nearly 40 years old, has brought some of that back. Do i seem happier to you --

Mate, if I was totally honest, I'd say you sounded dark and sinister ... BUT, I'll agree with you just to save you from putting me on your list of people to exterminate!
