The Detroit Lions are 20-57 with Millen as CEO, and is the target of criticism by fans and the media. In 2005, at the beginning of the fifth year of his 5-year contract, he received a contract extension for an additional 5 years, despite Millen having the worst record among all NFL team presidents for the first 4 years (It is noted that the Houston Texans have fewer wins during that same time period, but the team did not start play until 2002).
On December 6, 2005 Detroit Sports talk Radio Station WDFN "The Fan" anounced the Angry Fan March in protest to Millen maintaining his job. On December 9, 2005 The Lions Fans also announced an "orange out". This involved fans showing up at Ford Field clad in Orange, the color of their next next opponent, the Cincinnati Bengals.
