Are you SURE you have the email scanning enabled in Norton?! Check that first and then go over to their site and run their onsite scanner.
It takes some time to run since its running across the net but: any known viruses canNOT spoof a scan running form another machine. Also as someone else mentioned, Klez... read up on it at the symantec site and see if any of the things - files etc it mentions are on your system.
Just having Norton AV installed doesn't protect you unless you have all the auto scans set to load on bootup tho. Get over there and burn the time to scan your system. (It doesn't hurt to do it monthly even with having AV on your system)
