We would pull down about $300-500 a night driving up and down the freeways.

haha, when I was in highschool me and my friends use to go down to the Galveston and do the same thing for people stuck in the sand. The tow trucks were asking for $70, we did it for $20. Was always a great way to get some weekend beer/party money.
