That one is provincial, so only for Ontario people. I don't know about Quebec tax stuff, I'm afraid.

The tax system would be a lot simpler if they eliminated personal and corporate income taxes entirely, and instead generated all revenues from a national sales tax (maybe 20 or 25% rate). That would tax consumption only, and not investment, labour or income-producing activities. Plus, it would save a huge amount of paperwork (my GST and PST returns are simple to do). It would be a boost to the economy, and reduce the need for tax accountants.

In the Canadian federal election, though, the Conservatives want to reduce the GST from 7% to 5%, grrrr. It might be popular, but it's bad economics. He should be reducing income taxes, and raising the GST.
