Agreed. Look, throwing a party or having contests on boards has
nothing to do with 'giving back to the industry'. Programs do it for one reason only.... the hopes of getting more business. It's not altruistic, it's motivated by money, nothing more. Some programs throw parties for this reason, others use it toward their program. Neither is necessarily any "better", just different marketing strategies (ways of getting exposure for the program, as simple as that). It has nothing, I repeat nothing to do with giving back to the industry. If catering to 1/100000th of all the actual people that work in the industry is giving back to industry, well, we disagree on what it means to give back.
