My uncle Reg was in the crowd, and raised his hand along with maybe a few dozen other guys. The commander then announced "You men who have your hands raised stand up...."

He along with the other few dozen soldiers who said they believed in Santa were each given a 3 day pass so they could go home for Christmas.
