I don't follow basketball a bit ... but your thread peaked my curiosity about this fella named Lebron because I've often wondered if MJ was such a legend that I'd never see another person who could work the court the way he did. As I am (in fact) a male, I have been to several games and watched several games over the course of my life and have seen MJ play a fair amount.
I watched parts of the Sonics/Cavs game last night, and here is my conclusion:
NO WAY. Lebron doesn't control the game nearly as much as MJ did, perhaps that has more to do with today's coaches focussing on "teamwork," but there's no other way to describe it ... MJ was MAGICAL the way he floated around the court, jumped incredibly higher and farther than anyone around him, and was just more agile in general. Also .. it's worth mentioning that a good part of MJ's appeal was his attitude - he was always friendly and positive. From what I saw last night (perhaps he was grumpy?) James is severely lacking in that department. I would compare him more to Shawn Kemp of early 1990's sonics (isn't that when they did the playoff thing?).
Take that for what you want... again, this is admittedly a little bit skewed because it's the first time I've actually seen Lebron and he may have had an "off" night.
have a swell weekend!
