Fans of dog and cat meat, however, say it tastes better if you torture the animals prior to death, releasing adrenaline into their bloodstream. For fur harvesting, it sounds like it's just generally more efficient to mistreat them. Killing them early on, rigor mortis would make skinning them difficult. Boiling sacks of live cats sounds much more efficient than removing them from the sack and killing each cat individually prior to boiling. Same thing unloading them from the truck - I'm sure it's easier to skin a cat that's had its feet broken than one that's still healthy.
