I wouldn't sweat it much. My VERY timid house cat got out last year. She was gone for a month in the dead of winter. Snow was drifting over 4 feet etc. Besides being very thin and feral at first she was fine.

I kept putting food out for her. A few other cats were eating it as well but after laying one of my coats out I noticed her fur (they usually stay within 1-5 houses).

I finaly got a baby monitor and put it outside by the food so I could hear her eat. She came one night but was Feral as hell and ran away. I cracked the garage door open just a bit and grabbed the remote. Threw some food in there. Heard her again and hit the remote on the door and trapped her at 3am.

Good fun.
