And nothing I post information wise comes from GFY, it would either be from what I've heard from doctors or read in medical books.
You have nerves going through your whole body, and all skin (as far as I know), which includes the 'extra' skin, which isn't extra, it has an evolutionary purpose (lubrication/ease of entry) ... and if it caused infections to a detrimental degree then 'we' wouldn't have evolved with them.
