Yes, it's staged, but these guys really do get hurt.

Anyhow, whatever your beliefs or feelings about the "sport" Eddie was a very popular guy and it's always a tragedy when someone so young passes on.

btw, for the curious, it was a massive heart failure likely due to the drugs and alcohol he was addicted to up until a few years ago - he went clean, but apparently too late.
