I chickened out at 260 KM/h in my 97 VW GTI, I was only at 5500 RPM in 5th. It was highly tuned and not your average VW. (350+ horsepower, turbo/intercooled). It had a LOT more to give, but I wasn't willing to take the chance (Had my 15" track tires on, no traction, would have kept going if it were the 19's). My buddy had it at 295 KM/h before I had it, he's insane though.

Hooked it up to the computer once to see what my check engine light was all about and it came up with a warning "TOP SPEED EXCEEDED WARRANTY VOIDED". Heh, oops? I had a Euro cluster installed that went up to 320 KM/h, never got to see the top but I bet the car could have done it.
