Wrestling is a soap opera for men. If you've ever seen women get wrapped up in a soap opera, you'll understand how men can get wrapped up in wrestling.
Relationships get formed, people hate each other, stories get very involved and there's a lot of emotion given as well as returned.
Personally, I haven't watched wrestling in quite some years, but I do remember. It's like watching a soap opera... you want to know who likes who, who hates who, who humiliated who... once you get into it, it's hard to get back out of because each show ends with the "I wonder what will happen next!" feeling... just as soap operas do.
And on top of that, you get some violence... whether staged or not, it's still pretty amazing to see. Especially if you've ever seen it live. It's not easy what they do.
