However it has been a long time since I considered installing QuickTime on my machines. I am sure the clip bad ass, and to watch you're clip makes it tempting.

It's better behaved these days, you can set the file associations when you install. I think it still sits in the system tray (why would a video application need to run in the background fulltime??) but you can also disable that.
It's still not 100% on my comp though, occasionally it freezes the whole thing while the movie downloads, or crashes Mozilla completely (all windows). I tend to avoid MOV links because of this.
