18-year-old Becomes Town Mayor
Michigan teen becomes town mayor.
(Hillsdale, Michigan) - An 18-year-old high school student in Michigan has something quite unique to put on a college application: 'I held office as mayor'.
Eighteen-year-old Michael Sessions defeated 51-year-old incumbent Doug Ingles in this week's election to become the new mayor of Hillsdale, Michigan.
Hillsdale has a population of just over 8,000.
The teen used an aggressive write-in campaign to earn his seat. He even got the endorsement of several civic groups.
The high school senior, who still lives with his parents, will be the youngest mayor in the town's history.
