I saw it.
It was a very strong movie, tightly crafted.
The movie presented a dramatic glimpse into the insanity of war and what (mind fucks) it involves to make killing machines out of human beings. There is no room for individuality - first the heads must be emptied so that they can be open receptacles to be filled with the 'correct program' - hence, 'jarheads'.
This doesn't always work and the side effects are part of what this movie is about.
It also put forward the idea that the driving force behind US against Iraq initiative was primarily to protect the oil fields. (don't know where they got that idea).
I liked it. It will definitely offend anyone in the 'war business'.
I noticed that the US flag was hardly ever shown (I counted only 3 brief scenes) throughout the entire movie. I can't imagine that this was a coincidence. Most american based movies usually have the flag (and pics of the pres) plastered all over the place (esp. when shot in Canada).
We need more movies like this one out there.
