I never understood the point of those. Convenience? It's a few more numbers to enter on a normal icq and even if I'm the laziest guy I know, entering a few extra digits won't kill me.
It must be because it's easier to remember. That's because when you're away from your PC driving on the highway, you want an easy to remember icq number to ask a guy halfway around the world if you need to pick up some milk on the way home...err wait, you'll be on your PC at home by the time you talk to him. Scratch that.
I suppose that the reason of short icq is beyond me.
