I don't know anything about the story on Dateline. I am referring to what looks like a similar story I saw months ago. In that case, the group posed as young teenagers and baited men in chat rooms. The so-called teens were actually doing more of the "courting" and there was no proof that the guys came to the chat room looking to meet teens.
Again, as I mentioned, they probably shouldn't have been in a teen chat room in the first place but it didn't appear that the men were initiating the contact.
Of course I don't condone any man wanting to meet a teenager for sex and but I felt this group was pushing it a bit far in their methods.
