I'd react the same way as if it was a woman abused by a man. With disgust. I certainly don't think like a lot of other men think, that he must be weak. That's just bullshit.
In fact, if anything, that thinking can lead to physically abused men. How many times has it been posted on GFY...do NOT strike a woman under ANY circumstances? While I certainly don't advocate beating or hitting women, if a women came running at me with a knife, I'd do what I could to take her down...with the same respect she was showing me...NONE. I wouldn't see a woman running at me. I'd see a deadly weapon running my way. My life is worth more to me than worrying about doing the politically correct thing and not hitting a woman in SELF DEFENSE.
Abuse isn't a gender biased thing, except perhaps to the media. Just like there's bad people of every race, there's bad people of every gender. Many of whom USE their race or gender to their advantage...usually ONLY when necessary. For example, defending themself in court like in the case you've mentioned above.
