How many people grow their own corn, wheat, etc? ... very few.

Most people will continue to buy it ... the big change would be where ... instead of buying from the "street dealer", "friend", "mail order", etc they would instead be able to go to a shop, much like they have in Amsterdam, and conveniently purchase it - likely much it would be sold prepackaged under various brand names.

You greatly overestimate the effort people will put into things - most folks want convenience; many people signup for adult memberships for quick, easy access to quality content instead of spending much time sifting through TGPs, p2p, newsgroups, etc.

Cannabis in general is easy to grow, but growing cannabis with any decent yield, as in giving one a high, takes months, and requires some effort to ensure health and yield; sexing and killing/keeping male plants away.

In both Amsterdam and Vancouver, cannabis is to some extent tolerated and yet many sellers (shops, etc) still do a brisk business selling cannabis.

p.s. I know a lot about this subject being that I operate CANNABIS.COM - shortcut url http://cann.com
