That's something that a teenager would do.
There are better ways to solve such problems: more affection for the wife from her husband, a letter to the guy letting him know about the husband's concern, marriage counseling, and, if necessary... divorce.
Did the alleged vandal receive any criminal charges? Who paid for the damages? How much did it cost to fix?
