Anyways, if you're like me and never wash your coffeemaker, you should! A few months ago I looked under the rim of the coffeepot and I saw some REALLY DISGUSTING crap that traumatized the living shit out of me! It was SO gross I won't even mention what it was on GFY. So from now on I only drink instant coffee....

You raise a good point. You can buy all the high-end extra fine grind you want to, but if you're using a dirty coffee pot/coffee maker, you're not drinking good coffee.
Every few months, you should pour a cup of vinegar into your coffee maker, top it up with water, and run it through several times.
Also on a daily basis, clean all the little parts and the pot itself with dishsoap and water, to remove the oils from old batches of coffee. Do that and you'll always have decent tasting brew.
I only drink instant when I'm out of the good stuff and too lazy to get over to the store.
