what is your poison (if you happen to be drinking tonight)?
Hmm...I see Francis Ford Coppola is dropping the Niebaum from some of his labels. The Niebaum estate ran the profitable cheap table wine company "Inglenook" for many years. Coppola bought it out in the mid-70's, and added his name to the founder of the estate's name, and the money literally came pouring in.

To his credit, Coppola is active in the revival of the estate - they have a nice museum featuring a perfectly restored "Tucker" automobile, as well as other cool memorabilia from Coppola's other movies such as "Bram Stoker's Dracula".

Adding prestigious vineyards of Heitz and George de Latour also helped the quality of the wines produced improve. Over the years that I have visited the Niebaum-Coppola winery in Napa, I have seen the quality of the wine improve substantially. I've also seen Coppola himself there a few times, generally smoking a cigar while relaxed outside in the garden area (very Godfather-esque).

Niebaum-Coppola also operates a very good restaurant in Palo Alto (near Stanford University), which I enjoy visiting periodically.

But I digress...tonight I had a nice La Crema chadonnay with my seafood pasta, and then hit the Bacardi and Diet Coke, as is my usual modus operandi for copping a booze buzz that I can still accomplish work on.

Cheers,
