I have to disagree with you..
Everyone can watch the "tv" but you can't discuss very much with a "tv". The whole point of bringing a news item to a forum is so everyone can discuss it.
This being said , this is a webmaster forum so webmaster related articles are usually preferred , but i would be a liar if i said i never started a non-industry news related thread..
What bugs ME is when i see news articles that are already on the front page , or people who start news article threads with titles like "holy shit" so others wont know if the item has been posted or not..
specially when the item is something like "tsunami" and theres 5 other threads with "tsunami" in the thread title..
