You certainly can ask.
I had an interview for a "proper" job a few months ago. At another one earlier in the year it was an issue. So I took it out just in case. Would have put it back in if I'd got the job. (I didn't - lack of commercial programming experience..again!). I left it out as it felt right to do it. Also a dentist had pointed out to me that it was wearing away my gums around the roots of my front incicisor (spelling!!??) teeth and that sort of damage is irreversible. As my teeth are 100% perfect I thought I'd like to keep them that way and not have my teeth suddenly drop out one day because there was nothing left to hold them in.
Has made kissing and oral sex different. Never experienced either without until recently!!!
