I certainly was glad to have it when I lived downtown during the Rodney King riots. (Also had a sweet Galil .308) We had huge groups of people circling our loft screaming "we're coming to get you!" My wife and I drove up to a cop and asked what we should do and told him how we and others in our building were armed. His exact words to us were "well don't just start shooting people but if they cross your threshold then unload your clip."

ATF did eventually confiscate mine but that of course is a whole other story.
