RSS is very cool. It is a great technology. It is also *too* good.
It is already being manipulated by spammers and along with blogs, RSS feeds are being saturated everywhere you turn.

The average human who desires RSS feeds are being more and more selective about what they receive. They don't want a ticker bloated with useless, spammy headlines. They want relevance.

As more and more feeds are produced, the less eyeballs to go around (if that doesn't make sense, read paragraph above) and obviously, the less resulting traffic and sales. This leads to the "fringe" feed producers not wasting their time.

I absolutely agree that RSS is great for "us" but with everyone jumping on the bandwagon to deliver this to the end user, I can see another 'net craze just falling short of the killer app moniker.

Right now, I'm enjoy the short-term gains from pushing feeds but not obsessing over it. Been there done that.

1. Webmasters need to put "sponsor" content on their pages.

2., RSS does that better than anything yet so far.

3. Users will decide what web sites are filled with crap (spam) and which pages and sites they want to bookmark, same as they always have.

4. If you think this is a "flash in the pan" explain Google's $140 million investment in the technology -- NEWS

5. Oh, my gosh -- THE TOP NEWS SEARCH RESULTS ARE ALL BLOGS!
