If you're going to reencode them you might as well make them standard DVD video. I use a program called neoDVD that quickly and simply makes a TS_Video folder out of whatever video file I throw at it (including avi, mpeg, wmv, qt, rm, etc.) then burn the contents of that folder using Nero (but once you have a TS_Video folder whatever software came with your burner should have a selection to burn DVD video files).
