Well no offense to your friend, and I wish him luck with the sale...........................but statements like "as good as a Colt for half the price" should make anyone a bit leary.

If he built the gun from scratch he could have bought a reciever from Hesse and put Colt parts in it. But that would have only saved him the $30 difference in price of the recievers and makes no sense at all. If he bought the gun assembled by Hesse than it has all Hesse parts to match the reciever. Urban legends are always afloat about "clone" guns that are actually the same as the original at half the price and a different company logo on it. One of the more common is Taurus PT99 (a copycat of the famed Beretta M9) being manufactured in Berettas factory and sold at a discount under the Taurus banner. In reality Taurus firearms are made in South America, and made using much less quality materials than the (American made) Beretta. Taurus and Beretta have no affilaition and either do Hesse and Colt.

Like I said, IF he built the gun from scratch he could have used Colt parts on a Hesse reciever.
And since the reciever is equivelant to the frame and body of a car, why would you buy a Ford frame/body and put the engine and interior of a Ferrari in it?
