Location can be a big reason why people NEED to work at home as well.

Believe it or not, this one never ceases to amaze me. Prospective employees think that companies should be obligated to send them to Vegas and, lets not forget, Europe every year. You are applying for a job, not a professional vacationer. My god, when I worked from home on my own, I avoided shows like the plague. You would be amazed at how many people apply for a job and ask what shows they will be sent to, or get upset if you do not guarantee a show.

This I disagree with vehemently. I wouldn't work for a company BECAUSE they send me to shows, but if they want me to do the job to the best of my ability, they NEED to send me to shows. There's a personal contact and credibility factor that can't be overlooked. Vegas and Miami. Those two are must attends. The rest are negotiable.
I don't go to shows for vacations. I bust my ass when I attend these shows. Certainly I have fun as well, but that's a distant second to the business I go to do.
Everything else you posted I agree with. Excellent post.
