Check out DNJournal's weekly sales list.

http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm

Amazing ... and that's only the fraction of what's really happening...

For every sale reported, there are likely easily 10 TIMES more that are not reported, some as high, if not higher than the highest reported there.

And this comes from experience ... only one of my domain name sales (a smaller one) has ever been reported in DNJournal's weekly sales lists - while the rest, even 6-figures sales (some of which were somewhat public on DNForum's message boards), were never reported by DNJournal.

In short, the domain name market is growing at a clip that rivals physical real estate; as a bonus, there are no real estate transfer tax nonsense, etc in the domain name realm - not yet anyways.

And finally, if bird flu hits this winter (or more likely the perception by the public it has due to media panic), many folks will choose / be forced to stay inside ... what are they going to do? ... yep, on-line entertainment! This winter could be the best time ever to really build brand and traffic - a stable of quality domains can greatly help in making that happen.
