Its strange - I am a bit drunk, but its unusal for me to get tearful when a celeb dies.
I think he was such a part of the culture here - love him or hate him, he was in your face every day. If you are in your 20/30s then at least twice a day!
Im not sure there are many stars in the US that mean as much to the public. Bob Hope is the only one I can think of that comes close.

Well I suppose its a British thing, most adults grew up on the 2 Ronnies etc, the 1970s were a different era for Uk comedy and even though I love alot of the gear they push out these days, their is something special about the way it was done then, I watched around 3 episodes of porridge last night and still found it funny as hell, clever as well.
