Being a reseller really isn't going to give you any extra protection because you're still working through a middle company. What's the point? Use a top registrar and you should be fine. I would suggest Go Daddy, but you seem to be paranoid regarding them.

Ah yes, back on topic, I too have heard the godaddy horror stories but I have never had a problem with them either. I think the key is to let them know what you are doing ahead of time. If they are in the loop they will work with you. I have had a few sites hosted by them when they were basically just a general page that really wasn't "too" adult and then switched those sites to a dedicated server as I implemented them for their intended use. GoDaddy would always send me an email saying we are sorry to lose you but when I explained to them I was using the website for an adult purpose they were glad they were not hosting it. They have good customer service and if you make use of it you will get to know your rep who will work with you.
